Following are some entries participants have written in the Listening Booth Journal
•
I think this is a very interesting concept. I am curious to see what kind of responses you get. People pay$100/hr. for someone to listen. I expect you will get some interesting responses
•
Good. 5 minutes is too long. 3 minutes is better for distilled concentrated verbalization.
•
Thank you for letting us speak and listen. 5 minutes works, especially if you can change the way you’re being listened to.
•
Everybody deserves a fair hearing.
•
I am really frustrated at how people are employed in these giant companies as CEO’s and the people whom they have to represent don’t even get a say in who is hired.
•
Radiant Jewel is ready to drive and sit fear on the back seat (in a child seat if possible) The way R. Jewel needs to fuel herself by touching on Penetrate Source.
•
I listen to people a lot because I am a psychologist so it is nice to be listened to as well. I got some good analogous examples from Corona, too. It is good to have a 5-yr.old listen and relate to me.
•
Having listened to the two people I have felt the sun and Switzerland and I dream of G and the yellow cartoon rabbits. I am here. This is very sweet. Thank you for this booth.
•
Having set the booth to Freestyle, I launched in and pretty soon the booth was calling me on my stuff. These are beautiful days.
•
I like Io a cat.
•
Interesting the feelings that arise around being listened to attentively—fear not being the least.
•
Definitely a good mirror.

Wow! –Mr. Tiki
•
What an interesting concept! Handing out fliers on the street, there was almost a constant reaction. The reaction of pause, reflection, amusement, excitement, opportunity, and thanks. To be heard openly, such a gem.
•
Very fun, a great idea and very good listeners.
•
Thank you G and M. I always want to speak with strangers but I observe the boundaries of civilized strangers in the street. As we discussed, in general, this is a good thing. What opens the boundary? A creative act (as you are doing) and the creative act can be anything that opens the door, the gate, lifts the bar to engagement. Thank you

Sounds float
into the body-pool-rippling
surface of existence
Not more than a
summer day
No less than a
wish blowing away
Captured moment
of hearing breaking
the surface our

Notes from the soul fall onto my chest and stay there. some fall off, others replacing themselves like the leaves on the autumn and spring trees
•
Thanks for listening and giving me a story about what happened this weekend.
•
Patiently waiting for my 5 minutes of uninterrupted speaking at the corner of Page and Laguna. As I sit, I listen attentively to the cars passing by and I watch other people line up between the two pieces of tape. They want their five minutes too. I guess talking to9 strangers in public is an art form, and a risk…
•
How often do we get listened to , fully. If everybody got this several times a week/as needed, how would the world be different.?
•
Sometimes just knowing you are heard is enough to lighten your footsteps to a bearable level. Thanks a bunch.

Space carved out of space
What is created by the frame?
A fur-lined tea-cup
A toilet in a gallery
A ceremony of silence
black-robed monks
street clothes
a few bells
a clear intention
that gets lost
and found
and lost againKeep the conversation alive. Thank you

The Listening Booth was very interesting. I found the Listener an interesting person. She didn’t seem to listen for the sake of her job, but she was listening really truthfully and passionately.
Good job. You should do this more often.•
This was a really neat experience. normally I’m really shy at first meetings so this was somewhat of a challenge for me to just go up to a stranger and talk about whatever was on my mind. And the five minute time limit was a bit intimidating—yet intriguing. Thanks.
•
Advice—Very receptive to my particular problem. Sometimes it’s nice to get feedback from someone without a vested interest in the outcome.
•
Who knew I had so much to say? Thanks for letting me talk.
•
This is an inspired idea. You are like a catalyst, letting all these things people are thinking get out and moving. thank you for helping.
•
Thanks very much! I am amazed at how much I learned and understand about me in 5 minutes of your listening to me and giving me some feedback.! Thanks again!
•
I’m going to keep my heart open and see where it leads me….

Meeting a friend on the sidewalk within blue tape and the bounds of a form.
What happens here?•
5 minutes? Through a little everyday doorway, I found strong feelings and tears came—just beneath the surface—a kind heart, caring eyes, brings it all forth. Thank you. Amazing.
•
Stories. Storks. Storms.
Thanks•
Open ears dispel fears. Listening booth is a grand idea. Thank you for the conversation. Take care!
•
Thank you for having the listening booth and four your good sound advice and the reminder to focus on myself and this beautiful day and enjoy my last day in San Francisco with my brother and his partner. This is a good thing. The time went very fast!!
•
It was good to listen!

I think this project is really interesting and inspiring.
